There is something so refreshing about spring. That first day, when it gets warm enough to melt the snow it feels like the heaviness I’ve carried through the winter begins to melt away.
I think that we all have a tendency to get a little depressed during winter. I start out loving it, but by January I’m over it. It’s dark, it’s freezing, it’s confining.
Then spring comes. It’s like the world goes from black and white to color…bright, happy, warm.
Letting go feels a lot like the beginning of spring to me. I don’t know what you’re holding on to…but it probably started out as something you liked or maybe as a hurt you held on to because it made it easier to be bitter at the one who hurt you. But over time, that thing becomes a burden and just like winter, it brings darkness. It brings ice to your heart. It confines you, and prevents you from doing what you want to do…maybe even what you’re meant to do.
Let spring come to your heart. Let go of the past, the hurt, the pain, the person, the situation. Whatever it is, release it and let the thaw begin. Watch as your world goes from bleak black and white, to beautiful color. Replace those dark days with days full of joy. Choose to focus on what is good and feel the warmth wash over you. Because, just like winter always melts into spring, this time in your life will soon transition into something new. Don’t carry the cold, harshness of winter with you into spring. Choose to begin a new life, letting go. Choose freedom. Choose spring.
