Happy Spring! My youngest nanny kiddo is 3 and is all about doing “crafts” – whether its playdoh, paint or projects – she is all about it! In celebration of flowers and warmer weather and all things happy, we made an easy spring flower craft today. You can make it with items you probably already have in your cabinets, so lets get started!

This project is awesome because it’s flexible, works for toddlers on up, and requires very little in the way of supplies. That’s my favorite kind of craft.
For this craft, you’ll need:
- cupcake liners (the more colors and sizes, the better)
- We used Wilton Standard Baking Cups because it’s what we had. Dollar spot liners will work too!
- cake pop sticks or popsicle sticks
- We used Wilton Lollipop sticks.
- glue
- cardboard or sturdy paper
We gathered our supplies first – a piece of recycled cardboard, cupcake liners, cake pop sticks and glue. You can use construction paper or cardstock or any other background surface you have on hand. If you don’t have cupcake liners, hole punch or cut several sizes of circles to layer. Cake pop sicks can easily be substituted for popsicle sticks, construction paper or even pencils. Get creative!
Demonstrate the idea of layering different cupcake liners for your kiddo. Show them that they can flip the liners inside out so that the colorful part is facing up. We chose to flatten some of our liners and leave others popped up. We had plain white liners that we begging for colors, so we also got out some markers to make them even prettier!
If your kiddos are older, they can create their flowers and glue independently. I showed Ella Mae how to layer the liners and she chose what colors she wanted to go together. I squeezed the glue, and she placed the liners. She chose to put “stems” on three of her larger flowers and we filled the rest of the space with the remaining flowers!
I love how colorful and bright our artwork turned out!
Each holiday/season, we create a little mini art “installment” if you will, for the wall next to the playroom. (You can see our beautiful Valentine hearts on my Instagram.) I love how these flowers brighten it up!
I would love to see your kiddos’ creations, so if you try this be sure to tag me on social media @thegracefuljourney. And check out my #nannylife to see more fun!
Happy Spring!
