I’ve been out of high school for 7 years.
Out of college for 3.
Married for a year in June.
Lived in the same apartment for 2 whole years (a personal record) in September.
What?! I’m a grown up? This is how these things go now?
Since this is the way of life (and those of you older than 25 are laughing at me), I shall just continue on and share 25 (random) thoughts on turning 25.
- Mom and Dad – this doesn’t make you old. Just experienced. Love, your first born. Bro – this totally makes me more experienced and more awesome. Love, your big sis. Hubbs – sorry for teasing you, turning 25 is tricky business.
- I thought being halfway through my 20s would feel different.
- I hope that I continue to get better at living healthily – they say it just gets harder to reverse the effects of sugar and couch sitting after this point.
- I think that when I was a teenager, I thought I would have kids by now. Present day me is currently thinking, “holy cannoli, I think I have to start thinking about having kids now…”
- I wonder what being 30 feels like. …holy cannoli I’ll be 30 in 5 years… *panic attack*
- I am the same age as the characters in Friends when it first aired. Woah.
- The journey is just beginning.
- I am finally at a point where I can consider my parents my friends. And it’s cool.
- I’m so thankful I found my soul mate. Though I know I would be an okay person without him, I know I am a much better person WITH him.
- I would love to live by a beach before I’m 30. Even if it’s just for a few months.
- I should make more lists, make healthier choices, and have more meaningful conversations.
- I should relax, chill, and all around enjoy my life more.
- I want to go to Africa before I turn 30.
- I can’t believe I’m making a list of things I want to do before I turn 30.
- I thank God for the work he has done in my life and in my heart – I am a new person.
- I am so thankful for my jobs, and that I get to do something that I love every day.
- I am grateful for the invention of caffeine…particularly miel lattes.
- I am surprisingly grateful to have gone through the health issues I have this past year. It has made me stronger, better, healthier, and skinnier (ha!).
- I seriously have to figure out this whole cooking thing soon.
- I wish I read more.
- I really should watch all of The Wizard of Oz…note to self, fast forward through the monkeys.
- Remember that we are only promised today – make the most of it.
- It’s okay to take time for me.
- It’s good to not be a hermit and to develop relationships with friends that are not named Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, Joey, Ross, or Rachel.
- It’s about balance.
Those of you under 25: you don’t have to have it all figured out or have it all together by a certain age. Just do your best and ask for help. Don’t forget to dream and set goals and work hard to achieve them! What dreams and goals to you have?
Those of you over 25: You don’t have to have it all figured out either! What dreams and goals do you have? What advice do you have for me and the rest of us “young” people??
